Pawtuxet Village at a Glance
Pawtuxet Park
The City of Warwick describes Pawtuxet Park as a waterfront park off Narragansett Parkway on Pawtuxet Cove, with "a charming reproduction of a Victorian gazebo", picnic sites and park benches. Like all Warwick parks it is open dawn to dusk unless posted otherwise. The city's Parks and Recreation menu also lists the Aspray Boat House.
Gaspee Days
Gaspee Days is run by the Gaspee Days Committee, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The committee calls Pawtuxet "the birthplace of the American revolution" and says its events tell "the unheard history" of the Burning of the Gaspee. It describes the season as packed with family-friendly events that are mostly free.
The 2026 calendar, as posted by the committee, gives a sense of the season:
- May: Night at the Museum (May 8), the Proclamation and Children's Play (May 17), a Block Party (May 22) and a three-day Arts Festival (May 23–25).
- Early June: Symphony in the Park and a fireworks show (June 6), and a community service and concert (June 9).
- Parade weekend: a 5K foot race, the Gaspee Days Parade and a Colonial Encampment (June 13), then Sunday in the Park, the second day of the encampment and the Burning of the Gaspee (June 14).
- Later in the year: a Community Clambake (August 15), "Becoming the United States" (September 12) and a scavenger hunt (October 3).
Dates change each year; check gaspee.com for the current calendar.

The Gaspee Days Parade
The committee has run the parade since 1965. Crowds line a two-mile stretch of Narragansett Parkway to watch fife and drum corps, fire trucks and Shriners in their miniature cars, mixed with colonial groups from around the region. In 2026 it ran on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parade questions go to 401-781-1772, ext. 1, or Parade@Gaspee.org.
The Burning of the Gaspee
The last event of Gaspee Days is a re-enactment: a symbolic burning of the ship that, in the committee's words, "sparked the American Revolution". In 2026 it took place on Sunday, June 14, at 4 p.m. on Pawtuxet Cove. Contact 401-781-1772, ext. 6.
Visiting Pawtuxet Village Any Time of Year
Outside Gaspee Days, Pawtuxet is a place for a short walk along the cove and a sit in the park.
